The environment and May 3rd

On Saturday May 3rd, we have to decide who we think is going to be the best option for saving the planet.

The Gang-gang Cockatoo is a recent addition to the threatened list

At the moment there are 2158 species of plants and animals on Commonwealth’s Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act threatened list. The list grows almost every day.

Our future climate according to DEECA

Climate change is upon us. Here’s what DEECA says about how Victoria’s weather is changing: average annual temperature has increased by 1·2°C since 1910 and estimated by another 1·9°C by 2050; the number of very hot days per decade has doubled since 1986 and by 2050, the average number of heatwave days will have increased to about 40 per year, etc.

McGlone Rd Drouin - the sprawl continues

Drouin’s urban sprawl continues unabated: Highfields Estate, Buln Buln Rd, 450+ allotments; Ferntree Ridge Estate, Weebar Rd & Main South Rd, many hundreds; Hamilton Heights Estate, McGlone Rd, 900+ allotments; Drouin Fields estate, Gardner & Holman Rd, 670+ allotments; etc. You may like to surf some of the links on BBSC’s Planning for our future growth-Drouin page – enjoy!
